Branding

Each space can specify its own branding options used in the web interface.

A number of options are available to customize the appearance of the web interface, including colours, images, and custom CSS. These colours and images are shown to users assigned to each space. They are not shown to users who browse spaces and bonds below their current space—that is, a user assigned to the root space, but viewing the details of a bond assigned to a child space, will see the branding of the root space, not the branding of that bond’s space. To view the branding of a space other than your own space, change your effective space.

Branding options are inherited from each space’s parent. As an example, consider two child spaces of the root space, Chase Dental Clinics (CDC) and Stanley Internet (SI). By default, they both use the branding of the root space. Suppose that SI customizes the navigation menu colour and image, while CDC customizes only the image. If the root space later changes its navigation menu colour and image, SI branding will not change because it had customized both those values, but the navigation menu colour of CDC will change because it had not customized that value and was inheriting the value from the root space. To avoid changes in a parent space being inherited by a child space, be sure to customize all the available options in the child space.

In addition to the branding options available to every space, the root space can specify an image used on the login page. This is only available to the root space because there is no way to identify which space a visitor belongs to until he or she logs in. All users see the root space branding on the login page; after logging in, they see the branding specific to their space.
