Interfaces and addressing
=========================

All addresses in SD-WAN are defined at the interface level.

Presently, only physical Ethernet interfaces are supported. Future versions
will support virtual interfaces such as VLAN and VXLAN as well.

Interfaces can be assigned a VRF. Traffic entering the interface will enter the
associated VRF. Interfaces with no VRF assigned to them will only be used for
establishing tunnels. More information on VRFs can be found in the `routing
documentation <../routing-and-vrfs/index.html>`__.

.. warning::

    Take note that before a node is able to be fully configured via node key,
    the corresponding node record on the management server must include a
    working interface and address configuration that has internet connectivity.
