What's New in Version 6.7

Overview

We are pleased to introduce SD-WAN 6.7!

This release introduces support for bridge interfaces, increased scalability of the bondingadmin database, a beta release of our new streamlined frontend, as well as a number of new API endpoints for improved network monitoring.

Bridge interfaces

Support for bridge interfaces is here and can be configured through bondingadmin. These interfaces work in the following ways:

  • Allows multiple interfaces to be combined into a single layer-2 bridge that operates as a virtual switch.
  • Can be used to avoid the need for a local switch when connecting multiple devices to a bonder that need to be in the same network.
  • Can be used in conjunction with VXLAN interfaces to implement a layer-2 EVPN.

More details on configuring bridge interfaces can be found in our documentation.

Beta frontend

A new modern frontend is now available as a beta here.

The main improvements are:

  • A modern look-and-feel
  • More information for legs can be displayed in the bond list page
  • Bond and aggregator pages have been completely redesigned to focus on important information
  • Improved workflows for common operations
  • Dark mode

We would love to hear feedback on this new interface and welcome suggestions for improvements.

Other improvements

There are also a number of other major improvements in this release, including the following:

  • Static addresses can now be added to managed mesh VLAN assignments to allow for for static routing.
  • Improvements to the management server database. This increases the scalability of bondingadmin, especially for larger partners with a high amount of traffic. This fix prevents issues with stalled configuration updates on bondingadmin, which in turn prevents nodes from receiving updates from the management server.
  • A number of new API endpoints for alerts and warnings. These endpoints provide enhanced observability for the states of nodes and bonds. Check out these endpoints in the browsable API.
  • And more!
