Installation configuration profiles¶
Each installation method offers the following options for imaging nodes. These options mainly control networking configuration for the provisioning process.
The installation profiles are:
Image with node key (ZTP): This method installs Debian Linux and SD-WAN, wiping anything currently on the device’s hard disk. To use this method, the network must be connected to the first Ethernet port (eth0) and should offer configuration via DHCP. It prompts for the node key to identify the device to the management server. This is the recommended option for bonders. After provisioning with this mode, the node will be configured with the 10.207.35.254/29 IP address on its eth0 interface, as described in Accessing a node.
Image without node key: This method is similar to the first except it does not prompt for the node key. Instead, it configures the device as a default bonder.
Static IP (Aggregator): This method also installs Debian Linux and SD-WAN and overwrites the contents of the hard disk. However, it asks a number of questions about the local network configuration, such as which interface to use, the IP address and gateway, and DNS server. This is the recommended option for aggregators and private WAN routers, since they are usually configured with a static IP address. After provisioning with this mode, the node will be configured to run with the IP settings used during the provisioning process.
Note
All of these options do not ask before overwriting the hard disk.
